What is the difference between GAL-S, GAL-L and GAL1 promoters in the pFunk expression vector series?
Modified on: Thu, 4 Oct, 2012 at 7:21 am
The GAL-S and GAL-L promoters are variants of the commonly used inducible GAL1 promoter. Like GAL1p they are repressed by glucose and induced by galactose. The strength of expression is GAL-S < GAL-L < GAL1. Note that when using galactose to induce expression from these promoters it is recommended to use a galactose/raffinose mix to ensure robust growth of yeast.
